Hurricane Notification – Tampa Facility

As Hurricane Milton approaches Florida, where many of our U.S.-based servers are located in our Tampa facility, we want to reassure our customers that we have taken every precaution to prepare for the storm.

The Tampa facility was specifically designed to handle extreme weather events like this. It is situated 90 feet above sea level in a windowless, hurricane-resistant, hardened bunker. Additionally, the datacenter holds a ‘critical infrastructure’ designation from both the Department of Homeland Security and the City of Tampa, providing dual power connectivity to both the airport and hospital power grids.

In the unlikely event that these emergency grids fail, we have redundant uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) and backup diesel generators, powered by a 600-gallon (2,730-litre) belly tank. This is connected to a 4,000-gallon (18,185-litre) reserve tank via redundant piping, ensuring the facility can operate for several days before refuelling is required. All tanks are currently full, and we have multiple refuelling agreements in place with local and emergency fuel suppliers.

Our UPS system batteries and capacitors undergo regular maintenance and testing, and the entire facility is periodically load-tested on generator power to ensure seamless operation during emergencies.

Disaster preparedness supplies are fully stocked and the facility will remain manned 24/7 throughout the storm.

As a precaution, we will not be accepting new provisions for dedicated servers until after the storm has passed. However, we will continue to fully support all existing servers and equipment should any assistance be required.

While the facility is well-prepared to withstand the storm, we must designate this as an ‘at-risk’ period. We anticipate no disruption to services, but please be aware of the potential risks.

Customers hosted in our UK facility will not be affected, and our support teams remain available 24/7, as usual.

We appreciate your understanding during this time. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
